Arthur Oliver died from unspecified causes on 8th October, 1916, after having been sent back to a base hospital in Malta. He was serving with the 2nd Royal Lancaster battalion of 83 Brigade, 28th Division in Salonika. It is not known if he died from wounds or from illness, both of which took their toll of the men on active service in that theatre of the war.
